Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel bemoans ‘big disadvantage’ despite Aston Villa win
Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has vented his frustration that the Premier League hasn’t yet returned to allowing five substitutions amid the current Covid-stricken schedule. The German boss listed ‘concerns’ he has among his squad, despite their 3-1 win at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
On the half-hour mark, Matt Targett’s whipped cross deflected off Reece James’ head, beating Edouard Mendy and sending Villa Park into a frenzy.
But the hosts’ lead didn’t last long, with Matty Cash fouling Callum Hudson-Odoi inside the box and Jorginho equalising from the penalty spot just six minutes later.
Lukaku’s half-time introduction changed the game, and a clever piece of movement inside the box helped him head Chelsea into the lead 10 minutes into the second half.
The 28-year-old then showcased his pace and power in stoppage time, winning his side’s second spot-kick of the game, which Jorginho made no mistake in netting again.
