Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has issued a plea for his squad to ‘step up’ as star forwards Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are both set for a spell on the side-lines. Aside from a troubling double injury blow, the Blues romped to victory over Swedish side Malmo to notch a crucial Champions League victory at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel and his side were under pressure to get a result after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Juventus last time out.
Thankfully for the German, they were in cruise control within half an hour thanks to goals from Andreas Christensen and Jorginho.
Kai Havertz made it three shortly after the break, before Jorginho’s second penalty of the night added gloss to the scoreline on a night when Malmo failed to notch a single shot on target.
Celebrations were certainly dampened, however, by the double first-half injury blow of Lukaku and Werner.
