Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia negotiates clever clause in £17m transfer departure

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has once again shown exactly why she is considered one of the best negotiators around – and not by signing Saul Niguez on deadline day. The Blues are widely recognised as one of the best clubs in world football when it comes to player sales and this summer has provided hard evidence of exactly why that is the case…

Tammy Abraham joined Roma (£36million) Kurt Zouma signed for West Ham (£31m), Fikayo Tomori headed to AC Milan on a permanent deal (£26m), Davide Zappacosta signed for Atalanta (£8.1) while Victor Moses made his loan move to Spartak Moscow permanent (£4.5m).

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Olivier Giroud, Kennedy, Emerson, Michy Batshuayi, and Marco Van Ginkel also left the club and the list of departures goes on.

Chelsea recouped a staggering £110m from sales, which is £3m more than the £108m they shelled out to sign Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Bettinelli and Saul. Incredible business.

But while the deadline has passed in England, it appears Granovskaia has still been working away behind the scenes to secure the best future for Chelsea.

The European champions are now operating differently under Granovskaia, who has proven why she is among the best in the game in the past few seasons.

Chelsea will have to pay £34m to re-sign the teenager further down the line but still, they have secured the chance to do so and were not prepared to agree to a deal without one.

Anjorin joined Chelsea at U7s and made his first-team debut under club legend Frank Lampard back in 2019 when the Blues thumped Grimsby 7-1 in the League Cup.

Later that season, he would come off the bench in March 2020 as Chelsea thumped Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The England youth international has also represented his boyhood club in the FA Cup and Champions League, which would suggest the future is bright for Anjorin.

Chelsea boss Tuchel made it clear he rates Anjorin after getting the chance to work with him closely in pre-season.

“He’s confident, he’s strong, he’s creative. He scores a lot of goals and assists a lot of goals in training,” Tuchel said.
