Chelsea may be about to repeat Eden Hazard trick to gain major cash boost
Chelsea could be about to repeat their Eden Hazard trick by selling Kai Havertz to Real Madrid in order to gain a major cash boost ahead of a squad overhaul this summer. The 23-year-old cost £72million from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago and could be sold for much less this summer.
Real Madrid are searching for a replacement after it was confirmed that striker Karim Benzema will be leaving this summer and is expected to accept a deal worth £172million per year with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad. Madrid have added to the transfer speculation after Real Madrid TV showed some of their players on international duty including Chelsea players Antonio Rudiger and Havertz.
After three seasons in west London, Havertz is at a crossroads of his career having scored seven goals in 35 Premier League appearences. The German has two years remaining on his contract and could be sold to make way for new additions as Chelsea make sure they abide by Financial Fair Play rules.
The Blues could be about to cut their losses and accept an offer of around £52million for the versatile midfielder. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is rumoured to be a fan of the Havertz due to the fact he can play behind the striker and as a false-nine.
