Chelsea may cash in on Timo Werner with ‘four European clubs’ ready to swoop in

Timo Werner’s time at Chelsea could be coming to an end – with four elite European sides reportedly ready to make a move for the German striker.

Werner, 25, made the move from Leipzig last summer in a £48million deal.

However, after scoring just 14 goals in 60 games at Stamford Bridge, the striker has been ousted and replaced by record signing Romelu Lukaku.

Here, Express Sport takes a look at the four sides interested in the pacy hitman.

Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone’s men are awash with strikers at the moment – although with Luis Suarez at the ripe age of 35 come June, there may be a space for Werner.

Simeone likes hard-working players, and Werner’s work-rate will be a huge green light for the Argentine.

However, freeing up space in Atletico’s attacking contingent will be vital after their wage cap was decreased for the coming season.

Bayern Munich

Werner made his name in the Bundesliga – and despite Robert Lewandowski ageing like a fine wine, there will be a need to replace him in the future.

Werner scored 44 goals in 64 league games in the last two years of his tenure in Leipzig, cementing himself as one of Germany’s best strikers.

And he could well continue that record if a move to the Bavarian capital was to materialise.

DON’T MISS

Juventus

Juventus are a side having a hard time at the moment, and coupled with a poor strike force, Werner could be the one to change that.

Paulo Dybala has only scored 22 goals in his last 88 league games – a return that simply isn’t good enough – whilst Alvaro Morata has only scored 13 in 38, an equally poor record for a more out-and-out striker.

Werner hasn’t got the best goal ratio at Chelsea, but a change of scenery and intensity could do both him and Juventus good.
