Chelsea Needs only Four Players to Have an Accomplished Transfer Window

Since the transfer window opened on 10th June, different European clubs have been making signings to strengthen their squads. We’ve seen a couple of high-profile signings from the critically acclaimed ‘Big Six’ – moves that make us expect a tougher title race when the season kicks off.

Manchester City has sealed the deal for former Dortmund Striker Erling Haaland. Tottenham Hotspur has acquired former Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma and Ivan Prisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer. Liverpool isn’t out of the transfer action as they’ve also signed former Benfica forward Darwin Núñez. Arsenal has been busy, taking former Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus to replace Alexandre Lacazette and adding Porto’s former attacking midfielder Fábio Vieira to improve squad depth further. Although Manchester United is still relatively quiet this summer, they’ve signed Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

The Blues seems to be the odd one out as they’re yet to make a signing this summer and the kickoff is less than a month away. The issue worsens when you realise that they’ve been letting go of players – they couldn’t renew contracts of big names like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. More so, Romelu Lukaku has gone on loan –  Chelsea currently has the ugliest transfer window they’ve had in quite a long time.

According to Sports books working with betting.net, Chelsea’s odds of winning the league with their current squad this season is 18/1 – that’s not some good odds for a team that finished 3rd on the log for the previously concluded campaign. They need to take some actions that at least give a fighting chance on paper before the league kicks off.

Although they’re linked to some elite players and rising stars, personal agreements are the best we’ve got to hear. They’ve not been able to agree on a reasonable transfer fee with an of the clubs. While that’s the case, Chelsea can still salvage their transfer window as they only need about four players to regain the lost squad depth.

Chelseas Four Top Transfer Targets.

There have been many rumours around Chelsea’s transfer window, some partly true, and others the club or players involved have come out to out rightly debunk. More so, the club confirming their interest in a player doesn’t mean they will end up making the signing.

At any rate, we know that Thomas Tuchel is in close talks with Todd Boehly concerning a potential clear-out during the summer transfer window. A clear-out may see seven players free up £170 million for the summer transfer budget.

Raheem Sterling – the Manchester City player, seems to have fallen in the pecking order for starts for the Citizens; as such, Guardiola is open to a transfer move for the winger if interested clubs bring the bids with the right price. The player is also open to negotiations as he’s already preparing for life away from Manchester.

There are rumours about Chelsea starting negotiations at £45 million for the winger. We’ll just have to rely on the element of time to see if any of the transfer rumours hold water. Manchester City hasn’t come out to deny any offers, so there’s a good possibility there’s some truth in this rumour.

At any rate, Sterling would be an excellent add-on to the squad – wingers like Ziyech and Pulisic have been inconsistent, and the team is in serious need of someone that can rejuvenate the attack.

Kalidou Koulibaly – the departure of two centre-backs calls for some urgent attention to the position. The team is currently in talks with both player and team and looks to seal the deal in the coming weeks. The deal is rumoured to be worth around £40 million. Although, sources close to the player suggest Napoli is desperate to keep the play and are willing to offer a much more improved contract. Nevertheless, if a deal is agreed, he’ll be a fantastic add-on to the Chelsea squad.

Nathan Ake – the Manchester City centre-half has agreed to personal terms with the club – he’s part of the possible replacement for the departed defender. More so, Manchester City is open to reasonable offers, so the right pitch may see Ake moving to the Stanford Bridge in the coming weeks.

Neymar Jr – it seems the player has fallen out of favour at the Le Parc des Princes and will soon say farewell to The Parisians. The comments made by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in an interview about only wanting “players who are dedicated to the club’s project” didn’t sit well with him.  Chelsea is reportedly in talks with the Brazilian; if the rumours are anything to go by, he might just be heading to play in the EPL.

The transfer news about Chelsea seems busy as with other big clubs in Europe. However, not a single deal has been made. We’ve seen quite a number of players leave without replacement. We hope they can fill the void these departed players have created so they can put up a competitive campaign this season.
