Fitness coach and self-professed crusader against toxic gym behaviour Joey Swoll has made Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk his latest target for a short clip the attacker posted on social media. Mudryk, who joined Chelsea in a deal worth £88.5million back in January, has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since his move.
He’s yet to truly win over the Chelsea fanbase in his 14 league appearances having registered just two assists. And his latest social media activity has not gone down well with the ‘CEO of Gym Positivity’ Swoll.
The bodybuilding enthusiast regularly calls out toxic behaviour in the gym, posting videos on TikTok of him reacting to questionable clips online. He has one of the biggest followings on TikTok with 6.7m people subscribed to his account.
And Mudryk’s decision to post a short clip of a man working out on a rowing machine with his bum slightly exposed was the latest video to catch Swoll’s attention. Swoll reposted Mudryk’s video, albeit with the man’s behind now blurred out, before slamming the Chelsea star and demanding he “do better”.
He said: “So you see that man at the gym, working hard, trying to better himself with a trainer, he’s in an embarrassing situation where, yes, he’s a little exposed, and you decide: ‘Hey, let me take a video of it to post on social media to make fun of him all for attention.’ Pardon my language but what the f*** is wrong with you?
“And you’re a professional soccer player. You play for Chelsea in the Premier League. Is this how you want to represent yourself and your team?
“The fact that you don’t know better and want to set a better example as a professional athlete. Really? You need to do better.” The clip has already been watched nearly two million times on Twitter with a further one million on TikTok.
Mudryk is yet to delete the video from his own Instagram account at the time of writing. The 22-year-old will be hoping for better fortunes on the pitch from next season, but will have to impress incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea have an abundance of attacking options at the club and one of Pochettino’s first tasks will be to trim down his squad. Where that leaves Mudryk will remain to be seen, but the winger will need to prove his worth heading into next season.
