Chiefs’ Orlando Brown absolutely levels Tyreek Hill celebrating touchdown at OTAs

Orlando Brown is already making a significant impact on the Chiefs. Just ask Tyreek Hill.

Kansas City on Thursday released a video from the team’s OTAs that showed the two working out some kinks for post-touchdown celebrations. They clearly have some work to do, as Brown (6-8, 344 pounds) absolutely leveled the speedy receiver, listed at 5-10, 185 pounds.

Here’s where things went wrong for Brown: He initiated the contact, running up on Hill and attempting a jumping chest bump — a move that, for a lineman, demands he remain stationary, lest he bowl over his significantly smaller teammates. If Brown wants to attempt that move again, he needs to let Hill come to him. Otherwise, just lift him in the air and call it a day.

Hey, that’s why teams have OTAs.

Touchdown celebrations aside, the Chiefs likely hope to see a lot more of the same from Brown in 2021 and beyond — just against opposing defenses. Per Pro Football Focus, Brown was graded at 73.5 or better in each of his first three seasons in Baltimore; he was also graded at a 72.8 run-blocker in 2020 for an overall grade of 77.8, good for 25th among tackles in the NFL.

Kansas City desperately needed an upgrade along its offensive line: The Bucs exposed the massively depleted group in Super Bowl 55, harrying quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the majority of the game. The Chiefs not only traded for Brown in exchange for picks (including a 2021 first-rounder), but also signed free agents Mike Remmers, Joe Thuney and Andrew Wylie. They also added Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey and Tennessee guard Trey Smith in the 2021 NFL Draft.
