Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered an unspecified knee injury in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters that Hill “hurt his knee a little bit” but did not elaborate further.

Hill is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, posting season averages of 74 catches, 1,078 yards and nine touchdowns across his five-year career, per Pro Football Reference. The dynamic and speedy playmaker has proven to be a game-breaking talent for the Chiefs, who have won the AFC West every since Hill’s debut in 2016.

Hill has only missed time due to injury once: He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 of the 2019 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars that forced him to miss six games. Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder explained the ailment, calling it a sternal clavicular joint injury:

The six-year veteran sat Week 17 contests in 2017 and 2020, but that was due to rest in advance of Kansas City’s playoff run in each of those years.

In 2021, the wide receiver notably missed two early August practices due to tendonitis in his knee, but he returned on Aug. 5. That injury did not prevent him from starting the season with the team for its Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 12.

Without Hill, the Chiefs would turn to Mecole Hardman as its No. 1 wide receiver.

Byron Pringle and Josh Gordon would also see more snaps if Hill misses time.

Tight end Travis Kelce, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, should remain as the team’s top pass-catcher.
