Chris Paul brushes off Frank Vogel calling foul on LeBron James ‘dirty’

Frank Vogel thought that Chris Paul’s foul on LeBron James in the second half of the Lakers vs. Suns game was a “dirty play.”

But Paul isn’t letting that get to him.

Paul brushed off the notion that the play — which led to James banging his left shoulder and a scrum that resulted in four technical fouls and the ejection of Cameron Payne — was anything abnormal.

“I don’t know anything about that. I have absolutely nothing to say about that,” Paul said of Vogel’s comments, per Yahoo Sports. “We’re just playing basketball and competing. I’m just thankful we got the win, and I’m looking forward to Game 2.”

“My view was [an] overly aggressive box out, a dangerous play where ’Bron was in the air and got uppercut,” Vogel said.

In looking at the play, it’s hard to see what Vogel is talking about. Paul and James simply got tangled up mid-air. In fact, some thought that James had flopped after the 175-pound Paul toppled the 250-pound James with ease.

Was there contact on the play? Sure, but it’s hard to tell which party initiated it.

All told, both James and Paul, who suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of the game, were able to finish the contest and appear to be no worse for wear. The two veterans should be ready for another showdown in Tuesday’s Game 2.
