Chris Pratt Is Up for Playing Star-Lord Again, but Would Also Join James Gunn at DC

Chris Pratt has stated that he would like to play Star-Lord again in the future but would not be opposed to considering a role in the DCU if James Gunn approached him.

Star-Lord is reuniting with his ragtag team of antiheroes for “one last ride” in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but Pratt is insistent that it does not have to be the last time we see his wise-cracking character. In fact, he recently told Rolling Stone that he would like to reprise the role again.

He was careful not to reveal anything about his character’s fate in the new movie as he stressed that the issue of whether Star-Lord survives or meets his demise during the events of Guardians 3 has no actual bearing on whether his character could pop up again in the MCU.

“There’s ways for people to come back from the dead,” Pratt said of the MCU. “That being said, by saying that I don’t feel like I’m done, it shouldn’t go into spoiler territory. I don’t want to be like, ‘Oh, well, Chris Pratt says that Peter Quill doesn’t die.’ That’s not what I’m saying.

“Even if I do die in this, there’s a way to bring me back,” he explained. “So If you’re talking about, like, practically, can Peter Quill come back? The answer will always be yes. Now if you’re saying to me, Chris Pratt the actor, do I want to reprise my role as Peter Quill and is there mileage left in the character and do I have the bandwidth or headspace for that? I do. I’d be interested in playing the character again.”

While Pratt is up for returning, Guardians 3 is Gunn’s last project with Marvel Studios as he’s now focused on ushering in a new era of storytelling for DC alongside Peter Safran — but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t consider working with any of the Marvel actors again.

Gunn previously said they are approaching the casting process at DC with an open mindset. He emphasized that his priority is to find actors that best fit the roles and are easy to work with, prompting some fans to put forward the idea of Pratt playing Booster Gold.

“If James thought I was right for it, then you know that I would have to consider it,” Pratt told Rolling Stone about the prospect of portraying Booster Gold in the revamped DCU, though the outlet noted the actor hadn’t discussed the role with Gunn yet.

Dan Jurgens created Booster Gold in the 1980s. The character initially emerged as a glory-seeker who joined the superhero business for fame and money, so he would no doubt relish the fact that he is getting his own live-action TV series as part of the upcoming DC Studios slate.

Other TV series joining Booster Gold on the DC slate include Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and a seven-episode animated show centered around the Creature Commandos.
