Citadel Season 2 confirmed by Amazon Prime Video; Joe Russo to direct all episodes

The hit Prime Video series Citadel has officially been renewed for Season 2. The confirmation from the Amazon-owned streaming platform comes in the wake of good viewership numbers of the action thriller original series which saw its premiere in April this year.

Citadel will be back for another season soon on Amazon Prime Video, the platform has confirmed. All episodes of Season 2 will now be directed by Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo. Previously, Season 1 was directed by Newton Thomas Sigel and Jessica Yu. Interestingly, the show is bankrolled by Amazon Studios alongside Russo Brothers-owned AGBO.

Furthermore, David Weil will be returning as the showrunner for another season of the Amazon Studios’ spy series. Citadel’s cast is headlined by Priyanka Chopra Jones, Richard Madden, Lesley Manville, and Stanley Tucci. The spy thriller, within one month of release, has become Prime Video’s second-most-watched series outside of the US and fourth most-watched inside the country.

The series follows Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, two top agents of the independent spy organisation Citadel. It shows how, years, ago, they were involved in a mission that went wrong, and as a result, their memories were wiped. Now, they have been called back into action to stop a new threat: Manticore, a powerful crime syndicate that is trying to take over the world.

In India, the first episode of Citadel Season 1 will be available for streaming without a Prime membership, from May 26th to 28th, as a promotional offer. Furthermore, all 6 episodes of the first season have now been released for Prime members. In case you have been holding out to watch the entire series in one sitting, you can now do that with this spy thriller, which currently has pretty poor IMDb rating of 6.1.
