‘Congratulations to the Royal Family’ Wimbledon mocked as Elena Rybakina wins title

Elena Rybakina’s former coach, Andrei Chesnokov, has mocked the Royal Family for handing the Wimbledon trophy over to a ‘native of Russia’ despite a ban being in place for Russian and Belarusian players at this year’s Championships.

“I worked with Rybakina,” he told Russian outlet Championat.

“We did a good job, it was great.

“Now she is in the Wimbledon final, which means she can win it.

“Lena acts tightly and aggressively on the court, she has good speed.

“Halep could not cope with it. Lena lives in Moscow, grew up here, became a player here.

“Congratulations to the Royal Family, they will have to reward the native of Russia.”
