Conte has four Tottenham options if Anthony Gordon deal falls through

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race to sign Everton star Anthony Gordon, with Chelsea opting not to renew their interest in the prospect. Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen his attack further, whether that be with the acquisition of Gordon or from elsewhere.

Chelsea spent the latter stages of the transfer window trying to prise Gordon away from Everton, though club legend and Toffees boss Frank Lampard stood firm and ruled him not for sale. However, that has not deterred interest from their Premier League rivals.

According to The Sun, Spurs are plotting a January move for Gordon, with Conte keen on lodging an offer for the 21-year-old. Gordon has been instrumental for Everton so far this season and it would be no surprise for the Goodison Park outfit to rebuff yet another approach from the Big Six.

Though if that is the case, Tottenham remain keen on signing a forward. So, who could Conte target if that move falls through? Express Sport takes a look…

Adama Traore (Wolves)

Conte has been particularly keen on Adama Traore since arriving at Tottenham, and the likelihood of the move coming to light could be improving with every passing week given that the Spaniard’s contract expires in the summer. The 26-year-old snubbed a move to Spurs previously in favour of joining Barcelona, though he could now have the chance to right that wrong after his underwhelming La Liga stint.

If Gordon remains unavailable in January, Traore will certainly be available at a cut-price figure. The forward was considered in the summer and that interest could be reignited.

Leandro Trossard (Brighton)

Brighton forward Leandro Trossard has been one of the best players outside of the ‘Big Six’ so far this season, capturing the attention of several top clubs. The Belgium international has scored seven and assisted two in 13 league appearances, with Graham Potter reportedly keen to reunite with the attacker with Chelsea.

The Seagulls are working on a contract extension for Trossard, though Tottenham could attempt to prise him away from the south coast before an agreement is reached. The 27-year-old has played as a striker, winger and wing-back for Brighton and could prove to be a versatile asset for Conte in the coming seasons.

Harvey Barnes (Leicester City)

Leicester City’s poor start to the season somewhat crushed Harvey Barnes’ chances of being included in Gareth Southgate’s England team for the World Cup, having previously been a potential inclusion. The winger has been one of the Foxes’ saving graces this season with his electric pace and clinical finishing helping the club bounce back from their torrid start to the campaign.

Barnes penned a new deal at the King Power Stadium last year, though that may not prevent Tottenham from targeting him if they are interested. The 24-year-old has similar qualities to Gordon and would be a logical alternative.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

Tottenham are long-term admirers of Wilfried Zaha, and January may gift them the perfect opportunity to table a concrete offer for his services. The forward’s contract with Crystal Palace expires at the end of the season and is yet to agree on an extension, which could prompt the Eagles into selling their club legend in fear of him leaving for free in the summer.

Zaha has been instrumental at Selhurst Park since Palace were promoted and has been destined for a ‘Big Six’ move since. The Ivorian can play on either wing and also as a striker, providing further cover for striker Harry Kane if Conte approves of the move.
