Counter-Strike 2 Hitbox Changes Make Headshots Easier but There Is a Catch

Counter-Strike 2, one of most long-awaited releases from Valve came to us in the most sneaky fashion. The title is an all-out upgrade on CS:GO where the developers have overhauled every inch of the previous game. It will also be introduced as a free-to-play update for CS:GO.

At the moment, the game is in limited testing as the developers are working out the kinks and bugs ahead of the Summer 2023 release window. They recently patched the wallhack command which created many issues in the game, however players keep finding loopholes. The hype for the game is also at an unimaginable high as CS:GO players spent roughly $100 million on cases in anticipation of the upcoming title.

As the game is in limited testing, new revelations about the title surface each day. The most recent revelation points towards a hitbox comparison between CS:GO and Counter-Strike 2. As spotted by DotEsports, this comparison comes from a Russian YouTuber that goes by the name, Animist.

Through his comparison video we have learned about significant changes to the hitboxes in CS2 when compared to CS:GO. The main changes can be observed towards the following body parts: head, neck, ankles, and hands. In the case of the neck, ankles and hands, the surface areas of their hitboxes have been reduced, therefore players will have to be more accurate.

Moreover, the hitbox shape has been changed from a square to a capsule, which encompasses the body much better, and creates less chances for lucky hits. Most importantly, the head hitbox has increased drastically and it could be 4-20% larger depending on the skin the players are using. So players need to keep this detail in mind when purchasing their next skin.

While headshots might be easier in Counter-Strike 2, getting body shots has become more difficult in the game due to these hitbox changes. At the moment it doesn’t seem to make that much of an impact to warrant a change. Players can check out Animist’s full comparison video below:
