Creed 3: Michael B. Jordan Hints at Anime Influence Over the Boxing Scenes in the Movie

Creed 3, the third instalment of the Rocky spinoff series will be releasing on March 3, 2023. It will star series protagonist, Adonis Creed played by Michael B. Jordan. Creed 3 will also see the introduction of Marvel actor, Jonathan Majors, playing the role of Creed’s next big opponent, Damian Anderson.

There are a ton of intriguing developments in the movie that many fans would not know about. First of all, fans can say goodbye to Sylvester Stallone, as he will not be returning to the movie as the iconic character, Rocky Balboa. Although, he will stay on as a producer. It also marks the directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan.

Recently, Jordan came on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (via Screen Rant), where he shared some interesting details about the upcoming movie. On the show, Jordan was asked on he planned on changing the way boxing is being portrayed in the movies as it has been done over and over again. To which he had a very interesting answer.

He stated that the situation is a “gift and a curse.” There have been 8 other movies in the series and there are only so many different ways that boxing matches can be shot in. He thinks that being cornered forced him to become more creative and think outside of the box. He added that the fighting scenes in the upcoming film has a huge “Japanese anime influence” too as he is an “anime nerd.”
