Cristiano Ronaldo loses his cool and throws water at cameraman

Cristiano Ronaldo furiously sprayed water at a cameraman following Al-Nassr’s draw with Al-Shabab in the Arab Club Champions Cup. Ronaldo started on the bench and was introduced for the final 28 minutes but was unable to make a difference for his team as they were held to a goalless draw in their opening game of the tournament.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was clearly frustrated with the result as he stomped off the pitch after the full-time whistle before directing his fury at a member of Al-Nassr’s coaching staff. A video posted on Twitter then showed a cameraman moving closer to Ronaldo during his argument with the member of staff, which seemed to annoy him even more.

Ronaldo then noticed the cameraman, turned towards him and flicked some water at him before gesturing for him to move along, which he duly did. The Portuguese forward continued to wave his arm at the man as he walked away from the scene while the member of staff next to him looked on.

The incident marked the latest in a string of stroppy incidents involving Ronaldo, who showed his anger on several occasions towards the end of last season. He kicked the ball away in frustration during a King Cup of Champions win over Abha back in March before throwing his captain’s armband on the ground after a narrow defeat at the hands of title rivals Al-Ittihad.

Ronaldo also chased the referee after being sent into a furious rage by the denial of not one, but two penalty shouts while playing against Al-Raed in April.

It comes after former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo accused Ronaldo of moving to the Saudi Pro League purely for money in spite of the 38-year-old’s insistence that he does not want to return to Europe due to the apparent decline in quality of the continent’s top five leagues.

“It’s money, at the end of the day it’s money,” Ighalo told OmaSportsTV. “Is Ronaldo still playing out of passion? Ronaldo has earned 100 times more than I have in my entire life and yet he went to Saudi Arabia. Did he do that out of passion? It’s for money, bro.”

Ronaldo is earning a pretty penny in Saudi Arabia after signing a highly lucrative contract upon his arrival at Al-Nassr back in December. He remains tied down to his current employers until 2025 and managed to bag 14 goals in his debut campaign as Al-Nassr missed out on the Saudi Pro League title by a margin of five points.
