Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Manchester United team-mate Dimitar Berbatov has praised the legendary forward’s professionalism even at a young age, insisting he never missed a training session.
Ronaldo completed a sensational return to United on transfer deadline day. The Red Devils culminated a remarkable saga by finalising a deal believed to be worth around £20million.
United jumped in quickly after reports emerged that the 36-year-old was set to complete a controversial transfer to Manchester City.
Ronaldo decided to quit Juventus after three years in Italy and City initially led the race for his signature, with Pep Guardiola keen to sign a striker after missing out on Harry Kane.
But United leapt to the front of the queue and had agreed a deal in principle within 24 hours of reports about Ronaldo wishing to leave Italy.

The Bulgarian continued: “I was surprised, I didn’t expect it.
“I thought he was going to go and look for another challenge like he did his whole career and to try and prove – not that he has anything to prove – but maybe to himself to go to a different championship and do it again like with Spain and then Italy.
“I was surprised he returned to England, but I was happy.
“He is going to United and if you look at it like this it is also a new challenge because when you look at football, in history, when you go back to the same place for a second time it’s not always as successful as the first one.”
Dimitar Berbatov was speaking ahead of the launch of Betfair’s new VAR-Batov series, where the Premier League legend will be judging the unfair moments in football that affect so many punters. Watch the first in the series on Betfair’s twitter next week.
