Cumberlands, Freed-Hardeman ranked in NAIA Baseball Coaches’ poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberlands (Ky.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) are both ranked in the first regular season NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday.
Cumberlands dropped six spots to No. 17 in the initial regular season poll from the national office with 240 points. The Patriots have posted a 13-7 record overall this season, including a 12-7 loss to then No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan on March 2 and a 3-3 mark in Mid-South action.
Freed-Hardeman moved into the Top 25 at No. 22 with 133 points after taking 2-of-3 from the Cumberlands this past weekend. The Lions carry a 16-5 overall mark into this weekend’s conference play and the pitching staff has tossed seven shutouts in the last 13 games.
Georgetown (Ky.) (12) was the only MSC squad in the Receiving Votes category.
Southeastern (Fla.) (529 points) is ranked No. 1 in the poll, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan (509) and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) (493). LSU Shreveport (471) and Georgia Gwinnett (461) round out the Top 5.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and Unaffiliated Groupings.
The next scheduled Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23.
