Curious about the real-world range of the MG Comet EV? Here’s how it performs

MG Comet EV returns 193km in Eco mode: report

The tests conducted by Autocar India aim to understand the MG Comet EV’s efficiency performance in real-world conditions. The tests showed that the MG Comet EV could deliver about 11.17km per kWh efficiency in Eco mode. This when put in perspective with the MG Comet EV’s 17.3kWh LFP battery pack results in a range of 193km. In Eco mode, the MG Comet EV’s 42bhp electric motor is capped at 81kmph (GPS speed).

The MG Comet EV also offers Normal and Sports modes. In these modes, the MG Comet EV is reportedly sportier to drive and has a higher top speed of 101kmph. However, the range is expected to drop significantly in these modes.

Observations were also made about the indicative range that is displayed on the Multi-Information Display in front of the driver. The estimated range showed on the system on startup at 100 percent juice stands at 200km. The range displayed also reportedly stays at a constant 2:1 range to the state of charge ratio. This reading does not adapt itself to the driving style and the set driving mode. This is unlike modern cars and can be misleading.

The MG Comet EV’s 11.17km per kWh efficiency is better than its competition. Rival EVs like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 are able to deliver 7.77km/kWh and 7.8km/kWh respectively. The higher efficiency of the MG Comet EV can be credited to its lightweight build as compared to its competitors.
