Cyberpunk 2077: Keanu Reeves Reveals Similarities Between Solomon Reed and Johnny Silverhand
Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077, has just shared his thoughts on the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC. Reeves talked about Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed, Dogtown, Silverhand’s personality, and what the upcoming expansion will offer Cyberpunk fans.
CD Projekt Red is gearing up to launch the first and only expansion to their Cyberpunk game on September 26, 2023. It will introduce Dogtown, a sort of city within the crooked Night City. There is a new threat for V and Johnny to take on and the DLC will be introducing Idris Elba into the world of Cyberpunk.

Reeves sat down for an interview with Xbox, as part of the Xbox Games Showcase Extended. He talked about Idris Elba’s character, stating that both Silverhand and Reed have things in common. Keanu Reeves was asked about the relationship Silverhand has with Reed and the dynamic between them. He said, “I think Solomon has some things in common with Johnny in the sense of the military, the sense of being used, abused. It’s in the title, they’re fighting for liberty.”
Solomon Reed is also “trying to reclaim his life” the same as Johnny, as per Reeves. He added that it’s Cyberpunk 2077, so the story might start and end as revenge. Sharing more, Reeves feels that Solomon Reed has been “lashing out at the wind” and “living in the kind of the desert of his life.” However, he feels that Solomon Reed, just like Johnny, “also has that kind of soft and hard side to him as well.”
Keanu Reeves also touched upon Dogtown, saying that Night City has its own levels to it, and Dogtown is a much darker part of it. “It is dystopian, it has a tension to it, and this undercurrent of kind of violence and struggle.” He ended with, “Shit’s gone down in Dogtown.”
We all remember the Cyberpunk 2077 launch and the horrors of it. It was a launch so bad, Sony decided to pull the game off its marketplace and refunded players. Since then, CD Projekt Red worked ever so hard to deliver a game fans could get behind. After a series of major patches and Netflix’s Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners, a catalyst to bring more people to the game, things have indeed turned around for the better. Despite everything, it is fair to say that this is a good time to be a Cyberpunk 2077 fan.
