Cyberpunk 2077 Rises Up the Steam Player Charts Following the Release of Edgerunners Anime
While the entire gaming world is fixated on the Grand Theft Auto VI leaks, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 has slowly crept up to become quite the popular title on PC.
The Polish developers recently expanded on the universe created by them with a new Netflix anime series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Following its release last week, critics have labelled it another successful spinoff for CD Projekt RED, as the company has grown other franchises like The Witcher, which received its own Netflix series as well.
The biggest effect of Edgerunners’ success on the streaming platform has been on the game it’s based on, as Cyberpunk 2077 shot up the Steam charts. Last week, the game hit a 24 hour peak of 85,555, which makes it one of the game’s best performances in a long time.
It keeps climbing

At the time of writing, around 50,000 players had logged into experience Night City, which is a stark contrast to the game’s hapless state following its release nearly two years ago.
Over the past 20 months, the developers have unveiled several patches to fix some of Cyberpunk 2077’s game-breaking issues on all consoles and PC. With most of the issues ironed out, CD Projekt RED has showcased an interest in carrying on with the franchise in the future, which includes spinoffs like Edgerunners and a new major DLC titled ‘Phantom Liberty.’
With the title set to receive more content in the coming years, it will be interesting to see how the narrative further changes for CD Projekt RED and Cyberpunk 2077, which seemed dead in the water when it released in a horrible state a while back.
