David Warner to retire from Tests after Ashes 2023? Wife Candice drops big hint
Australia’s explosive opener David Warner is struggling to create much impact in the Ashes 2023. On one hand where the cricket observers are raising questions over his place in the team, the buzz around David Warner’s retirement from Test format after Ashes 2023 is also gaining ground. David Warner’s wife Candice Warner shared a cryptic Instagram post that hinted at the conclusion of the legend’s career.
“The end of an era for us touring with test cricket, it’s been fun. Forever your biggest supporters and your girl gang. Love you @davidwarner31,” Candice Warner said while sharing a picture with David Warner and their kids.
Pat Cummins has not confirmed that David Warner will have a place in the next Test match of Ashes 2023 while talking about the expected formations in the upcoming Test at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.
“But everyone comes back into it. Greeny should be fit for Manchester. Josh [Hazlewood] will be back in there as well. So we should have a full roster and we’ll have a look at the wicket and have a chat and work out the best XI,” Pat Cummins said.
David Warner should play gently in England
The former cricketers have also commented on the performance of David Warner with Mark Butcher pointing out that David Warner should attempt to play more gently in England. “But one of David Warner’s great strengths is how he goes at the ball and how aggressive he is. In Australia, where you don’t get as much lateral movement, that’s brilliant but here, you have to be a little bit more gentle,” the former England cricketer said.
“It’s always quite presumptuous. There are very few people who get to call with their closing moment and they tend to be the absolute greats of the game. David Warner has been an excellent player but there comes a time when somebody else makes that call for you, I’m afraid. If Stuart Broad keeps knocking…,” Butcher added.
