Dead by Daylight’s 7th anniversary stream has arrived and it provided a ton of new details for the future of the horror title, including two new spin-off games, the arrival of Nicolas Cage himself as a Survivor, a brand-new sci-fi chapter called End Transmission, and more.
There was a lot featured in the showcase, and this roundup will gather all the Dead by Daylight news you need to know, and be sure to let us know below what you are most excited about in the comments!
Dead by Daylight Spin-Offs Announced and Include a Story-Based Game from Until Dawn’s Supermassive
While details are still scarce, Dead by Daylight will be expanding its universe with two new spin-off games, including one from Until Dawn developer Supermassive that will be “an intense narrative experience filled with powerful life-or-death choices set within the backdrop of Dead by Daylight.”
We don’t yet have a release window or title for this game, but Behaviour Interactive confirmed that more details will arrive later this year.
The second game is a multiplayer PvE game from Midwinter Entertainment, and it looks to “tackle themes of greed and lust for power, with teams of up to 4 players taking on a strange new corner of The Entity’s Realm.” Once again, no release window or title was given.
Nicolas Cage Is Playing Himself in Dead by Daylight
In one of the most surprising announcements that we didn’t even know we wanted, Behaviour Interactive recently confirmed that Nicolas Cage himself would be joining Dead by Daylight. At today’s showcase, fans were given a few more details ahead of the full reveal on July 5.
Alongside sharing that Nicolas Cage will indeed be a playable Survivor, we learned that Cage was very involved in bringing this character to life and even lent his voice to the role. It’s not just words either, as Cage recorded every pant, grunt, and scream as Cage said there is no soundalike for him.
Dead by Daylight Year 8 Roadmap Revealed
Behaviour Interactive shared details on Year 8 of Dead by Daylight, and it will feature four new normal chapters and two additional ones that will be Survivor-only. Year 8 will also include Nicolas Cage at some point alongside two licensed Killers that have yet to be revealed.
In addition to in-game events, new Tomes, and more, there will be a ton of improvements added, including perk meta rework, map balancing, anti-camping, loadout search bar, survivor disconnect bots, players cards, and player report feedback.
End Transmission, Dead by Daylight’s First Sci-Fi Chapter, Arrives in June
In June 2023, End Transmission will be the latest chapter to be added to Dead by Daylight and will serve as the game’s first sci-fi experience. This chapter will come complete with a new killer called The Singularity, which is a “monstrous amalgamation of restructured organic matter and machine parts seeking to become the perfect lifeform.”
Facing off against The Singularity on the new map Toba Landing will be Gabriel Soma, a technician who arrived on this remote and horrifying planet with a crew that is now dead thanks to the evil force that is now after him.
“We’re thrilled to push the fear of the unknown to new heights with END TRANSMISSION,” explains Dave Richard, Creative Director for Dead by Daylight. “With this new Chapter we are expanding the bounds of The Entity’s reach and exploring dark themes of advanced technology and I think this will be a very frightening experience for all players.”
End Transmission will be released on June 13, 2023.
Dead by Daylight’s Upcoming Cosmetics Include Iron Maiden, Slipknot, and Designs from Ikumi Nakamura
Dead by Daylight is set in a horrifying world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look good while doing all you can to survive. To help in that mission, Behaviour Interactive has announced some of the cosmetics players can look forward to in the future, and two of the most exciting collection are based on heavy metal legends Iron Maiden and Slipknot.
The Iron Maiden collection is inspired by the band’s mascot Eddie and the Slipknot Collection will feature nine Killer masks that “pay tribute to Slipknot’s members.
Next up is the Artists from The Fog Collection that puts a focus on Dead by Daylight’s community. Four creators from Canada, the USA, Poland, and Spain have designed Outfits for two Killers and two Survivors, and the fifth creator is fan-favorite ex-Bethesda director Ikumi Nakamura. Nakamura designed cosmetics for The Oni, The Legion, and Yui Kimura.
If that isn’t enough, fans of Behaviour Interactive’s previous work will be delighted to know that Naughty Bear himself will be joining the game as an Outfit for The Trapper, complete with a “unique Mori.”
Behaviour Interactive Gives a Quick Update on the Dead by Daylight Movie and Comic
We already know that a Dead by Daylight movie is on its way from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, and Behaviour Interactive shared that the team is currently looking for the film’s director and screenwriter.
Secondly, it was confirmed that the Dead by Daylight comic book, that was created in partnership with Titan Comics, will hit store shelves in early June.
