Dead Island 2: PS4 and Xbox One Players Can’t Host Co-Op Sessions

Dead Island 2, a title that has seen some massive ups and downs in the 9 years since it was announced is finally set to release on April 21. If you’re wondering about purchasing a copy of Dead Island 2 for yourself, then you can check out IGN India’s review on the game for more clarity.

On the topic of Dead Island 2, recent revelations about the game’s co-op features will not make previous generation console players happy. The developers at Deep Silver have revealed certain co-op details for the players ahead of its release and these details reveal that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will not be able to host co-op sessions on launch. Check out how it will work below:

  • PC players will be able to host as well as join other PC Co-op Sessions.
  • Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X players will also be able to host as well as join other Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X Co-op sessions.
  • PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Pro players will also be able to host as well as join other PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Pro Co-op sessions.
  • Xbox One S users cannot host but join other Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X Co-op sessions.
  • Similarly, PlayStation 4 players cannot host but join other PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Pro Co-op sessions.

The devs stated that the game’s graphics requirements are so high that players will need to either be on the latest generation consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) or one of the Generation 8+ consoles (PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X) in order to host Co-op sessions. The developers are working on a solution that will allow players on all platforms to host co-op sessions in the future.
