It’s just been a couple of days since the gameplay video was released and the players have already started drawing comparisons between the remake and the original 2008 title. ElAnalistaDeBits is the creator that has picked up similar elements from the original game and compared it to the remake’s gameplay video. Through the comparison we are able to see the use of new lighting, textures and modelling, which help in making the already eerie environment even more scary.
Blood splatter feels a lot more true to life and the new lighting style enhances all the surrounding elements. Certain environments have been redesigned from the ground up to provide better immersion. Gun shots, explosions and combat have never look better in Dead Space. The addition of Zero gravity also adds more opportunities to explore and ways to traverse USG Ishimura. Enemies and other hostile elements feel much more frightening thanks to the redesign.
Dead Space Remake Gameplay Enhancements
The remake is definitely visually pleasing, but this is not the area where all the effort has been focused, the developers have also made some considerable improvements to the gameplay of the title. There are two main features that have been added to provide a more immersive feel to the gameplay and combat, namely the Peeling System and the Intensity Director.
- Peeling System: This new system allows for peeling off skin, breaking bones and even limbs of the hostile creatures, Necromorphs. The Peeling System works in new ways every time, depending on the type of impact the players deals to his enemies.
- Intensity Director: This new feature allows the players to enter the intense frame of mind that Isaac is in. This feature will change the level of intensity the player faces by adjusting the enemies and environmental effects that come Isaac’s way. The protagonist’s breathing, heartbeat and other sensations are also subject to change.
In other news, players can now preorder the game and have choices of two editions, Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. With the Digital Deluxe Edition, the players will be eligible to receive 3 unique suits and 2 suit textures. Moreover, there was an issue in one of the gameplay trailers that was meant for Latin Americans. In the trailer it stated that the game would be available for the next gen PlayStation 5 as well as the previous gen PlayStation 4. This seems to be a mistake as Dead Space is not releasing for any of the previous gen consoles, only for the next gen PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Dead Space is native on Steam and will not require Origin Client as stated in a report by PC Gamer.
Talking about issues, fans in America have been critical about the pricing of the game, as the game has been priced at 70$ for consoles and 50$ for Steam. The pricepoint on consoles is much higher than all the AAA games that are scheduled to release, such as Gotham Knights, Callisto Protocol, Hogwarts Legacy and more. When compared to the Indian market, the Dead Space Remake has been priced more competitively, matching the prices of the previously mentioned titles.
