Deadpool 3: Hugh Jackman Teases Wolverine’s Frustrating Relationship With Ryan Reynolds’s Merc With a Mouth
Hugh Jackman is all set to reprise his role as X-Men icon Wolverine in the Deadpool threequel alongside Ryan Reynolds.
The Australian actor will play the Marvel character for the first time since 2017’s Logan in Deadpool 3, which will see him team up with the Merc with a Mouth. Following the announcement of the actor’s return earlier this year, the Aussie star has been dropping hints and bits about his role in the upcoming film.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Empire Film podcast, Jackman talked about his character’s relationship with Deadpool, when they finally share screen space once again since that abhorrent battle between the two in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
“We’re opposites. Hate each other,” said Jackman. “I’m talking from my perspective.” Additionally, the actor also revealed that he either wants to stay as far away from him as possible or beat the pulp out of him. “He’s annoyed by him, frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie. So, I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”
Jackson’s comments suggest a classic relationship between the Marvel mutants, ripped straight from the comic books. Wolverine and Deadpool have battled side-by-side many a time. However, the Merc with a Mouth’s mouth makes an angry Wolverine even more pissed off.
In the end, it will be interesting to see how the duo will play off with each other, when they make their MCU debut in Deadpool 3, which is set to release on November 8, 2024.
