The film is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and features the voices of Minami Takayama, Megumi Hayashibara, and Rikiya Koyama. It was released in Japan on April 14, 2023.
Detective Conan’s popularity in India
Detective Conan aired on Hungama TV around 2007. The series was among the first “mature” anime to air on Indian television, and it featured violence and murder that was not typically seen on children’s programming. This made Detective Conan a controversial show, but it also helped to make it popular with a generation of Indian viewers. Detective Conan was taken off the air in India, but it still has a large following among fans who grew up watching it.
While the show is available for streaming online, releasing the film in cinemas is a wise move. Detective Conan is a long-running series, with over a thousand episodes. Not everyone can keep up with new episodes on a weekly basis, so it has become a tradition for long-running anime series to release films each year. These films allow fans who grew up watching the anime to reconnect with the series, even if they have stopped following the show regularly. This trend is also seen in other long-running series such as Doraemon and Crayon Shin-Chan in Japan. It would be fantastic to see films from these popular series released in India as well, as they continue to enjoy immense popularity to this day.
