Devon Conway becomes joint third fastest to score 5,000 runs in T20s | Cricket News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway on Sunday became the third fastest batter to score 5000 runs in T20 cricket. The New Zealand batter reached the 5K milestone in an Indian Premier League match against Punjab Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Conway carried his bat through the CSK innings to remain unbeaten on 92 off 52 balls as he helped the home side post a challenging 200 for 4. Conway smashed 16 boundaries and a six against Punjab, while scoring at a strike rate of 176.92.
Conway, who was playing his 149th T20 game, took 144 innings to reach the milestone, making him the joint third fastest batter in the world. Australian Shaun Marsh also took 144 innings to reach the 5K mark in the shortest format of the game.

West Indies great Chris Gayle holds the record of fastest to 5000 T20 runs, achieving the feat in just 132 innings, followed by India’s KL Rahul, who took 143 innings.
In 149 matches and 144 innings, Conway now has 5,063 runs at an average of 44.41 – the highest among batters with 5000 plus runs. He has scored two centuries and 41 half-centuries in the format, with the best score of 105 not out.

He has represented New Zealand in 38 T20Is, scoring 1,234 runs at an average of 45.70. He has scored nine half-centuries in T20Is for the Kiwis, with the best score of 99 not out.
