The EU’s statement, on the other hand, adds that Nintendo will accept no-cost repair requests irrespective of whether the drifting happens due to wear and tear or if it originates from manufacturing defects. However, the company warns that due to stock shortage issues, it might take some time before customers can book a slot.

You can also try updating to the latest firmware update before fiddling with hardware-level fixes. Reddit is also buzzing about an alternative fix – one that definitely voids the standard warranty – that involves putting a carefully cut card stock above the silver plate fitted inside each half of the Joy-Con controller.
