Drive to Survive release date ‘leaked’ with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen title battle

The apparent release date for the latest series of the popular Netflix docu-drama Formula 1: Drive to Survive has been leaked. Fans will not have to wait too much longer for the latest instalment of the popular series, which will cover the events of the 2021 season.

Considering the drama that the last campaign held, series four of the show is set to be one of the most explosive yet.

Drive to Survive has become popular among fans for giving an intimate look at the key figures within the sport, with access which otherwise would never be achieved.

It has also been credited with bringing a wave of new fans to the sport, who had never taken an interest in watching the live action until getting hooked on the drama of the documentary series.

So far it has shown the details of intra-team disagreements, secret discussions and major moments on the track.

For example, series three had a whole episode dedicated to a deeper dive into the Bahrain crash which could have been deadly, but instead saw Romain Grosjean miraculously escape only with burns to his hands and feet.

Considering some of the tensions we saw on and off the track in 2021, season four has the potential to be filled with drama, with even more details about some of the biggest moments of the year.

Fans will be able to get more details of the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and how they interacted with one another as they pushed the title battle all the way to the final lap of the last race.

There won’t be any interviews with the Dutchman, however, after he confirmed that he decided against sitting down with the Netflix crew after accusing them of “faking” some rivalries in past series.

There is also a chance we may get to see more of what happened behind the scenes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with potential access to race director Michael Masi and the reasons behind his controversial decisions in that title-decider.

There was also another rivalry off the track which fans would like to see more of, as tensions flared between Mercedes chief Toto Wolff and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

Away from the title race, there is also set to be a behind the scenes look at George Russell’s promotion to Mercedes – and Valtteri Bottas’ move away from the Silver Arrows.

It was reported that Netflix cameras were invited to film Russell signing his new contract before the news of the driver line-up change was made public, so it is likely we will get more information about the decision-making process.

Even after all that there is still plenty more action to focus on, such as McLaren’s dream one-two success at Monza, Esteban Ocon’s shock win in Hungary and Sebastian Vettel’s up-and-down campaign with Aston Martin.

Not to mention, Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is likely to be involved again – his sense of humour and brutal honesty have made him a fans’ favourite in previous seasons.
