Dropbox Dash: A universal search tool
According to a blog post by the company, Dropbox Dash is AI-powered universal search that connects tools, content, and apps in a single search bar. “With connectors to major platforms like Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce, and more, you can find everything in one place, fast,” said Dropbox. The feature will help users skip those time-consuming tasks like toggling between apps to share content, join a meeting, and find a deck that has been shared. Dash is powered by machine learning, it learns, evolves, and improves the more you use it, explained Dropbox.
The company said that generative AI will also be coming to Dash to help dig the company’s information to answer questions and surface relevant content using generative AI.
Dropbox AI: What it does
Dropbox said that it will be applying AI to file previews, which will quickly understand large documents or videos without parsing through the entire file. “With the click of a button, you can summarise your content, like contracts and meeting recordings, into a concise explanation,” noted Dropbox. Further, users can get the information they need without the hassle of manually searching through large files. Simply ask a question and get a response within seconds, said Dropbox.
Also, users will be able to use Dropbox AI on their folders or their entire Dropbox account.
Dropbox AI for file previews is currently in alpha. Starting today, it will be available in the US to all Dropbox Pro customers and start rolling out to select Dropbox Teams to test.
