Dwayne Johnson Has Reportedly Received the Highest Salary for a Single Movie, Breaks Records

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most popular Hollywood stars in the world. The former WWE superstar is now regarded as one of the A-listers in Hollywood after being a part of hit franchises such as Fast series, Jumanji, and as Black Adam in the now-defunct DCEU. Now, a new report has claimed that Dwayne Johnson has broken a record for receiving the highest salary ever for an actor.

Dwayne Johnson now the highest-paid actor for a single movie, claims report

Puck journalist Matthew Belloni reported (via The Direct) that Dwayne Johnson received a $50 million upfront payment for his role in the upcoming movie, Red One. This movie is set to release during the Christmas season this year on Amazon Prime. The movie features Dwayne Johnson alongside Chris Evans, who was once MCU’s Captain America. Red One has been described as a holiday-themed action-comedy from Amazon Studios.

As for the reported salary, Dwayne Johnson’s previous salaries for a single movie pale in comparison. To put this in perspective, the actor received his highest payday for Jumanji: The Next Level and Netflix’s Red Notice where he received $23.5 million for each of these movies.

If the report is correct, the actor would have not only surpassed his own personal record but he would also set a new benchmark for actors in the entertainment industry. Previously, Robert Downey Jr. (Captain America: Civil War) and Will Smith (King Richard) held the record for the highest-paid salary to an actor for a single movie as both of them received $40 million for their respective roles.
