EA allows some players to buy Fifa 23 for under Rs 5, here’s why – Times of India

EA recently listed the Ultimate Edition of the Fifa 23 game on the Indian Epic Games Store at the price of six cents (which is under Rs 5) by accident. This version of the unreleased game is originally priced at $99.99 (roughly around Rs 8000). According to a report by PC Gamer, this mistake resulted in a 99.98% discount on the upcoming game was quickly taken down. However, several gamers were already able to purchase the game at the wrong price and shared their experience on Twitter. Moreover, the publisher has also decided to honour the price for users who have bought it quickly enough.
How EA has reacted to this blunder
Apart from allowing the users to purchase Fifa 23 at the unintended price, EA has also emailed each Epic Games Store user who did so and admitted its mistake. The popular game’s publisher also confirmed that it won’t demand the correct amount during the release of the game.

According to a report by IGN, the e-mail reads: “We scored a pretty spectacular own-goal when we inadvertently offered FIFA 23 pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store at an incorrect price. It was our mistake, and we wanted to let you know that we’ll be honouring all pre-purchases made at that price.”

As per the report, “the significant price decrease coincides with what is a significant edition of the long-running football franchise.” The report also mentions that Fifa 23 will be the last of its name as EA`has refused to pay the $250 million per year. The publishers will instead start fresh in 2023 as EA Sports FC.

Moreover, in Fifa 23, a female player will be included in the international cover for the first time in the franchise’s history. The report claims that Chelsea star Sam Kerr will be joined by PSG’s Kylian Mbappé on the Ultimate Edition cover. This move celebrates women’s clubs being added to FIFA for the first time, all of which will be available to play when the game releases on September 30.
