EA joins Middle-earth Enterprises to develop a new Lord of the Rings game for mobile – Times of India
Game developer Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed that it has partnered with Middle-earth Enterprises to work on a new Lord of the Rings mobile game which will be a free-to-play game. The developers also announced that the upcoming collectable RPG game will be titled — The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. EA shared this information on its official blog post and claims to bring the fantasy and adventure of The Lord of the Rings (based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary works) to existing fans and new audiences alike and is expected to offer a strategic, social-competitive experience for mobile gamers. In other gaming news, earlier Microsoft decided to delay the Xbox streaming stick and the Xbox app for over a year.
The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth expected details
The publisher has not revealed a lot of details about the game which includes — images, gameplay or characters, except for a single image that shows the partnership between the two firms on a background from the Middle-earth ages.
However, the chief brand and licensing officer for Middle-earth Enterprises, Fredrica Drotos has also claimed that the game’s setting will be “solely inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien”
The developers also suggest that the Heroes of Middle-earth game will feature characters from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchises. EA also mentioned that the game will have “immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, and a wide roster of characters”.
The gameplay will include battles across multiple known stories from Tolkien’s works and is also expected to involve social and competitive playing modes. EA has also not confirmed the official release date of the game.
