EA Patents New Technology for Interactive Reenactment and Collusion Detection in Video Games
Electronic Arts seems to be looking towards the future of gaming, with new and innovative technology to improve the experience for players.
The popular gaming company recently patented two technologies, with one of them most likely helping out players in multiplayer gaming. The other will bring about new interactive experiences for players from real-life scenarios.
As spotted by Exputer, the first patent dubbed “Detecting Collusion in Video Gaming” will help prevent opponents from teaming up. In genres like battle royale and other FPS shooters, players are at risk of facing a group of opponents who have teamed up to increase their chances of winning and earning more rewards.
To prevent this from happening, EA’s patented technology will detect this using an AI system, which will monitor player data and behavior. The data might include finding connections between the two players in the world outside the game, such as social media. If an anomaly is detected between the two players, the system will determine the punishment to be meted out.
The other patented technology from EA revolves around “Interactive reenactments within a video game.”
As spotted by VeryAli Gaming, the system will allow players to turn real-life moments and scenarios that they might have seen on TV into playable moments in their favorite titles. For example, a video clip of a player scoring a goal in a Premier League match can be converted into a playable scenario in the future installments of EA’s FIFA sports titles with this technology.
EA details the system’s working in the patent, which includes identifying the assets present in the video clip and mapping them on to the video game. Once that’s done, the game can then reenact the entire scenario for the player, who can then control the scenario and change it to their liking.
