EA Sports FC release date and cover star – First details about FIFA successor
Fresh leaks may have shed some light on the new EA Sports football game. The follow up to the long-running FIFA series, EA Sports FC will be the company’s first football game to ditch the official branding. With rumours that the game will be unveiled later this month, a new report has seemingly leaked one or two crucial details, including the cover star and release date. Judging by the latest rumours, EA Sports FC will have a September 29 release date on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
According to a report on French site DealLabs, EA Sports FC Ultimate Edition will launch even earlier. Fans who pre-order the bumper edition will be available a week earlier on September 22.
Fingers crossed EA Sports will also release a beta or demo ahead of launch, most probably in September.
In addition to the rumoured release date, the report suggests Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be the cover star.
With Erling Haaland on the cover of the Standard Edition, other footballers will appear on different editions in different regions.
This includes Vinicius Jr., Sam Kerr, Zinedine Zidane, Pele, Johan Cruyff, and Son Heung-min.
Electronic Arts confirmed the split with FIFA in a 2022 statement. Without fully explaining why they couldn’t come to an agreement, the company said that it will continue to license hundreds of teams.
EA Sports explains more: “EA SPORTS FC brings the strength of more than 300 individual licensed partners, giving players access to more than 19,000 athletes across 700 teams, in 100 stadiums and over 30 leagues around the world.
“Through EA SPORTS FC, EA will further grow the reach and power of its football licensing portfolio by retaining and expanding the licensed football content, scaling to new experiences, and increasing access through more platforms.
“EA will also build on a foundation of inclusivity and innovate in new areas around both women’s and grassroots football for the global community.”
