eCOGRA Reveals New Brand Identity Reflecting Company’s Values and Focus on Global Expansion
Leading scheme for underrepresented games industry professionals kicks off 2023 intake.
Limit Break, the largest mentorship program for underrepresented and marginalized groups in the United Kingdom games industry, has today announced the launch of its 2023 scheme, opening applications for both mentors and mentees for this year’s intake.
The program is also marking its fifth year with the launch of Limit Break Mentorship Training, a bespoke CPD-accredited program aimed at industry professionals keen to develop both mentoring and allyship skills.
The Limit Break mentorship program enters its fifth year, building on a record 2022 that saw more than 1,100 mentors and mentees participate from across the United Kingdom, continuing its successful partnership with Out Making Games. Mentorship applications are open to anyone working for a United Kingdom-based games company that identifies as part of a marginalized or underrepresented gender, orientation or ethnicity group as well as neurodiverse people and those with disabilities.
Through the Limit Break platform, prospective mentees from artists, designers and programmers to marketers and QA specialists are then matched with experienced mentors from across the industry. Anyone with over five years’ experience in any industry role, regardless of background, is welcome as a mentor. Participation is free for the six-month program, which also includes access to exclusive events, resources and guidance plus membership of the Limit Break community, providing many opportunities to develop skills and connections and support career development.
Limit Break’s commitment to supporting and encouraging diverse talent through mentorship has also driven the development of its newly announced training program for mentors, Limit Break Mentorship Training. The two-part course is fully CPD accredited and will offer participants the opportunity to develop skills and tools to build better mentorship relationships and help actively support greater diversity in the industry. The course is both for individual mentors seeking to become officially certified and for companies interested in training their leads to become better mentors and allies within the company.
“We believe that mentorship can play a hugely important role in helping to promote and develop diverse talent in the gaming industry and it is awesome to hear from previous Limit Break participants about the positive impact the program has had for them,” the founder of Limit Break, Anisa Sanusi, said. “We are so excited to be launching Limit Break for our fifth year and are working to make sure that 2023 is even bigger and better, especially with the launch of our new mentorship training program.”
“We want to deliver mentorship training to support and encourage both aspiring and existing mentors in helping others upskill or even break into the industry,” the Head of Training for Limit Break, Harun Ali, said. “Limit Break Mentorship Training has been designed especially for the games industry and we’re looking forward to helping evolve the next generation of games industry professionals.”
Potential mentors and mentees can apply now through the Limit Break website (LimitBreak.co.uk) with applications open until May 1st 2023. More details for Limit Break Mentorship Training can be found at LimitBreak.co. uk/Training, pricing and booking information will be released on the Limit Break website on May 1st.
