Eddie Hearn explains why Tyson Fury ‘lost his rag’ with True Geordie

Eddie Hearn has given his take on Tyson Fury’s infamous interview with True Geordie. The Gypsy King hurled insults at the YouTube star after he was grilled on his upcoming contest with Derek Chisora in a very tough watch.

Fury faces Chisora for a third time on December 3. After beating Del Boy convincingly in 2011 and 2014 many fans have expressed their displeasure with the match-up.

There had been hopes that the long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua would be made on the same date. However, that fight was scrapped after the two parties were unable to come to an agreement on a final set of terms.

As a result, Chisora was approached to step in much to the dismay of punters who continue to debate whether better opponents could have been explored. Geordie – whose real name is Brian Davis – went about challenging the WBC champion on that very topic and received a livid response from Fury who branded the YouTuber a ‘t***pot’ and told him to ‘kiss his b****’.

Now, Hearn has timed in on the matter. Speaking to Boxing Social, he said: “Tyson doesn’t really like being quizzed on things, in all honesty. He’s a fighter, so it’s his job to talk to the media – but not like my job to talk to the media where I have to, and I have to do 30 [interviews].

“I thought the questions were fine; they weren’t personal, he was just [asking] questions and Tyson lost his rag. Maybe Fury had done like three or four hours of interviews and just thought, ‘F*** me, I can’t be a***d to talk to this bloke’ – which is fine. It just looks like a weakness, and people see it as a weakness, but he’s just a human being. Sometimes you have bad days, sometimes you get p****d off.”

Providing Fury defeats Chisora next month, he is expected to face Oleksandr Usyk in the first undisputed heavyweight unification bout of the four-belt era. Promoter Frank Warren recently revealed that this will likely take place in either late February or early March next year over in the Middle East.

Following that fight, Warren disclosed that they will look to make Fury vs Joe Joyce in the same year with Joshua unaccounted for in the three-fight plan that the Queensbury Promotions chief delivered to Express Sport.
