Elaine Thompson-Herah makes history with 200m gold to complete double-double
Elaine Thompson-Herah has won the sprint double-double at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after clinching gold in the 200m. The Jamaican sprint star was the hot favourite heading into the final having eased through the heats and the semi finals.
And history was on the cards for Thompson-Herah to become the first female sprinter to win the double-double in the history of the Olympics.
She won gold in both the 100m and 200m events at Rio 2016 and defended her title in the former at the weekend.
And there was no issue in the 200m final this time around as Thompson-Herah held on to the lead from the moment the gun went off.
