Emma Raducanu conqueror Wang Xinyu sends classy injury message to Brit after Linz Open win

And she will take her place in the third round after hitting 32 winners and breaking Raducanu’s serve seven times.

The encounter will be Raducanu’s final competitive match of the year as she turns her attentions to preparations for next January’s Australian Open.

The teenager is set to play two exhibition matches, however, before the end of the year.

She will play in the Champions Tennis event at the Royal Albert Hall and is also set to face Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Raducanu has enjoyed a stellar breakout year in 2021 and reached the fourth round of Wimbledon this summer after being given a wildcard.

She then cemented her place in the record books as she became the first qualifier in history – male or female – to win a Grand Slam title when she won the US Open in September.

That victory at Flushing Meadows meant Raducanu was the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade in 1977.

And the prodigious talent is now also the youngest Grand Slam champion since 17-year-old Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon in 2004.
