Emma Raducanu pips Naomi Osaka with astonishing 2021 career earnings uncovered

British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has pipped four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka in the 2021 career earnings table, following her historic US Open win.

Raducanu broke countless records in September on her way to her remarkable victory in New York, shocking the sporting world by becoming the first ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam event.

Following the conclusion of the season, the ATP confirmed the world rankings for 2021 from both the men’s and women’s game, as well as the highest earners from the calendar year.

And on the women’s side, youngster Raducanu came out on top ahead of one of the sport’s highest female earners, Osaka.

Following her breakthrough at Flushing Meadows, the 18-year-old racked up an impressive £2.1 million in career earnings in 2021 leaving her sixth, two spots ahead of Osaka who racked up £1.7 million.

The 25-year-old played out yet another impressive campaign, with the highlight no doubt her maiden Wimbledon title win, after she defeated Karolína Plíšková 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 in July’s final.

Along with her victory on the SW19 grass, the world No 1 collected five titles throughout the year, helping her to secure a whopping £3 million in prize money in 2021.

The earnings in the men’s game follows a similar suit to the one seen in the women’s, with world No 1 Novak Djokovic coming out as the highest earner by collecting a cool £6.8 million.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed yet another year of success on the court, as he became just the second man in history to complete the surface slam with victories at Wimbledon, the US Open and Australian Open.

The Serbian great came extremely close to collecting all four for the campaign, however agonisingly missed out in New York as he lost the US Open final to Daniil Medvedev.

Coincidently Medevedev came in as the second highest earner behind Djokovic, as his 2021 career earnings came in at £5.6 million.
