Emma Raducanu’s family have their own view on who should take coaching role

Emma Raducanu’s family have a preferred profile in mind as the US Open winner continues her search for a new coach, according to reports. The teenager parted ways with Andrew Richardson a week after her incredible victory at Flushing Meadows and is yet to link up with a permanent successor.

Richardson guided Raducanu throughout her incredible US Open triumph.

She started as a qualifier and battled through a gruelling 10-match schedule, culminated by her 6-3 6-4 final win over Leylah Fernandez.

Raducanu had teamed up with Richardson on a short-term deal after splitting with Nigel Sears, who had helped her reach the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Richardson coached Raducanu for two years in her junior years but the pair have now decided to part ways. The Bromley-based star will now need to search for a new coach.

She has been spotted practising with Jeremy Bates, the coach of fellow British star Katie Boulter.

However, Tim Henman has said that it is just a temporary arrangement and that a decision on a new coach will be made soon.

“First and foremost, Jeremy is out there in his role with Katie Boulter and is also involved in British women’s tennis,” the former British No 1 told talkSPORT.

“It is great that he can be there to support and if she’s got any questions around her matches or just be there to organise practice, it’s a familiar face.

“Her coaching situation I’m sure will get addressed at the end of the year. She’s got a nice schedule now with three or four tournaments before the end of the year.

“November and December will be time for her to reflect and plan for the future. In terms of who that coach might be, I’ve got no idea. She needs to sit down and see who is available.

“I’m sure there will be lots of interest in the job. Hopefully then she can put someone in place to build on the enormous success of the latter part of this year.”
