England star Jude Bellingham will reportedly make his decision over his next transfer move based on gut feeling and a club’s Champions League status as he weighs up his next career steps after Borussia Dortmund. The teenager scored his first goal for his country during the 6-2 World Cup win over Iran with his performance putting even closer attention on his transfer status.
Bellingham has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe in recent years following his performances for Dortmund. He has already made over 100 appearances for club and country before turning 20 and has captained his side on multiple occasions this season. He is seen by many as a potentially generational talent who can dominate the midfield of any of the world’s biggest clubs for at least the next decade.
His performance in England’s win over Iran has set tongues wagging over his future again with the 19-year-old scoring the opening goal in the 6-2 rout. He was a classy presence in midfield for the entirety of the 90 minutes with opposition midfielders unable to lay as much as a finger on him.
Now, the factors that will affect his transfer decision have become clearer with CBS transfer guru Ben Jacobs reporting he will make a decision based on ‘gut feeling’ and a team’s Champions League status.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid are the clubs that have been most heavily linked with a move for the young sensation with the Bundesliga side slapping a price tag of at least £100million on his services as they plan for a departure next summer.
Chelsea and Manchester United are also rumoured to hold an interest too but the latest developments would leave the Sky Blues and Los Blancos in pole position given they are more certain to have Champions League status next year. His former Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland has also been in his ear about a move to the Etihad with the Norweigian keen to be reunited with his friend.
In the meantime, Bellingham’s full focus will be on England as he looks to help the nation win the World Cup for the first time in 56 years in Qatar. Following the win over Iran, he stressed the importance of the result and his aim to start finding the net more for club and country.
“The start was tough and we had to dig it out – Iran were strong,” he said. “It’s important that we learn how to create chances against those kinds of sides. I thought I’d missed [when I scored] as it took ages to loop into the goal. I told you I wanted to get more goals for [Borussia] Dortmund and England.”
Bellingham will once again be looking to take on a starring role when England take on the USA in their next group B match. A win will ensure the country passes into the round of 16 with few dramas as they chase their first World Cup since 1966.
