The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have added Tom Banton to their squad for the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka which will be played on July 4 in Bristol. He was picked as a backup for Dawid Malan in the squad.
Banton, who has played six ODIs and nine T20Is for England, strengthened his case after belting a 47-ball century in the T20 Blast for Somerset earlier in the week. Somerset confirmed that Banton will miss their derby in the Blast against Gloucestershire on Thursday evening, as well as their home fixture against Middlesex on Friday.
The last time Banton featured in an ODI was against Ireland in Southampton on August 04, 2020. England is due to face Pakistan in three ODIs (July 8, 10, and 13) and a trio of T20s (July 16, 18, and 20) to round off their limited-overs summer. England will head into the second ODI at the Kennington Oval with a 1-0 lead, having registered a convincing five-wicket win in the first encounter.
