England fans fume as BBC iPlayer crashes in World Cup clash vs Iran
England football fans were left fuming as BBC viewers were left without coverage of their World Cup clash with Iran after iPlayer went down just minutes after kick-off. Viewers complained over not being able to access the live stream of the match with the BBC website showing error messages, causing frustration for hundreds of viewers.
Users reported connection issues and the overall BBC iPlayer failing to load, with an error message appearing for desktop and mobile users. Independent outage monitor Down Detector recorded a huge spike in BBC iPlayer down reports as the Three Lions World Cup opener kicked off at 1pm on Monday.
It read: “Sorry, it looks like something’s not working right now. Please try again in a few minutes.”
And that left England fans furious with not being able to access a live stream of the game, although coverage on the channel BBC One was unaffected for terrestrial TV viewers.
