England’s WAGs ‘planning German castle stay’ costing £1,750 a night
England’s WAGs are reportedly eyeing up a German castle as they plot their Euro 2024 stay, it has been claimed. The players’ partners are already making plans for the tournament, where the rules will be extremely relaxed in comparison to their experience in Qatar last winter.
The families have reportedly scouted out the five-star Schlosshotel castle-based resort in Kronberg, where rooms cost £1,750 per-night. Another option is supposedly the Schloss Auel Boutique Hotel in Lohmar.
Travelling partners of the England players are keen to let their hair down after abiding by Qatar’s strict rules at the 2022 World Cup. They were banned from drinking and playing loud music, and were told to dress modestly in the Middle East.
And so the planning on a luxury stay in Germany has already begun. The Schlosshotel is reportedly one of the venues under consideration.
A source allegedly told the Sun: “They (players’ families) have hired a personal travel planner. They’re actually toying with the idea of a German castle. They’re keen to let their hair down after being restricted in Qatar.”
Among the travelling cohort will be Harry Maguire’s wife Fern, Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan, Kyle Walker’s wife Annie, and Luke Shaw’s partner Anoushka Santos. England staff will hope that there is none of the headline-hitting party antics among families that plagued the Three Lions’ World Cup campaign of the generation before at the 2006 Germany World Cup.
Asked if the players’ families would stay in the same Baden-Baden resort as they did 17 years ago, Southgate said: “Well, no. I wasn’t involved in that tournament so I don’t know how all that was but we have a great environment with our players.
“We want their families to be able to go and enjoy the tournament as well. We normally welcome them in at various times. It changes the dynamic of the hotel, especially if the kids come in and I think those those elements are important for the players.
