Eubank Jr responds to Benn’s failed drugs test
Chris Eubank Jr responded to the news that Conor Benn has failed a drugs test ahead of their blockbuster showdown with a face-palm emoji. Next Gen was understandably lost for words following the statement released by Matchroom Boxing and Wasserman that confirmed Benn had returned adverse findings for the banned substance clomifene.
The statement reads: “We have been made aware that a random anti-doping test for Conor Benn conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association returned an adverse analytical finding for trace amounts of a fertility drug.
“The B sample has yet to be tested, meaning that no rule violation has been confirmed. Indeed, Mr Benn has not been charged with any rule violation, he is not suspended, and he remains free to fight.
“Mr Benn has since passed a doping control test conducted by the UK Anti-Doping Agency, the anti-doping authority to which the British Board of Boxing Control has delegated its doping control testing for the bout. Mr Benn has passed all doping control tests conducted by UKAD.
Benn has not broken his silence as of yet but did upload the official Wasserman and Matchroom statement on his Instagram story. The Eubank Jr vs Benn open workout is still ongoing at the time of writing with undercard fighters taking to the ring to showcase their skills to assembled media and fans.
