Explainer: How to troubleshoot Instagram music library if it is not working – Times of India
Instagram introduced music on Instagram Stories back in 2018. This feature helped users to add a soundtrack to their Instagram stories. The company claims that the Instagram Stories feature is now regularly used by 400 million users. Users can add music to their stories by using the music sticker available in the add a sticker option while uploading Stories. Users can choose from a library of thousands of songs according to their mood, genre or what’s popular and it also comes with a preview button.
Several users have reported that they were unable to add music to Instagram stories on a frequent basis. The users complained that the music sticker in Instagram Stories was not working as expected. If you are facing the same problem and the music library in Instagram is not working, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to fix the problem. The steps underlined below might allow you to add music to your Instagram stories once again.
Check if the music sticker is working
The first thing one should check is whether the music sticker is available or working for their Instagram stories. Try adding a story by tapping on the Plus button on the bar below and choose the Story option. Then select a photo or video to add to your story and tap the stickers option. Find the Music sticker and tap on it, if it opens the library of music then it is working fine. But, if it is not working follow the steps below to use the feature.
Check if the app is updated
Next, you have to make sure that the Instagram app that you are running is up-to-date. It might be the case that the version that you are on doesn’t support music or has a bug that is preventing the Instagram music library from working properly. It is possible to force the Instagram app to update manually on both Android and iOS platforms.
Visit the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and search for the Instagram app. Check if there is an update available for the app and install the update. Enter the app after the update and check if you can add music to your Stories.
Reinstall the app
There are times when users face a problem with the installation of the Instagram app or the app’s data cache can also get corrupted and prevent the app from working properly. At times, uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app might solve the issue with the Instagram music library. It is important to note that users will not lose any saved data on reinstalling the app.
Uninstall the Instagram app from either your iOS or Android device and then visit the App Store or the Google Play store to download the latest version of the app. Download the app and enter it using your profile credentials.
Log out of the app
If reinstalling the app doesn’t work, try signing out of the app and then signing in to it again. This action might fix the Instagram music library glitch and can restore the music feature. To sign out of the app tap on the profile option at the bottom of the screen and go to the three-line menu on the top right of the page. Select the Settings option from the menu and scroll to the bottom and look for the Log Out option. Sign out of the app and again log in to the app using your Instagram account details.
Go back to your personal account
Switching back to your Personal profile from your business account can help you to fix the Instagram music library issue. Some users have complained that they lost their access to the Instagram music feature once they upgraded their accounts to Business accounts. You can switch back to your Personal profiles to check if the music feature is working there.
It is important to note that users will be able to re-access their business profiles once they flip back to their personal profiles. Users can easily switch back and forth among both accounts according to their discretions. To do that, tap on the profile option in the bottom bar and go to the Settings option that opens from the three-line menu drop-down list. Tap on Account and scroll down to choose the Switch to Personal Account option. The app might take some time to process the switch and give back the music feature to your personal account.
Check if Instagram is facing service outages
Users might also want to check Instagram’s status page at DownDetector to be aware if the service is offline or has encountered a serious outage. If the Instagram services are offline, there is a possibility for it to affect some parts of the app which includes the music library.
Contact Instagram customer support
Lastly, you can also reach out to Instagram customer support if none of the above-mentioned tips and tricks are working. Instagram has provided its users with a customer support phone number and an active help centre is also present in the app. The app’s help centre has various support articles, FAQs and a specific system for reporting issues. It can be accessed by tapping the three-line menu on the Profile page and tapping the Help option.
