Facebook is reportedly shutting down this feature – Times of India

Facebook is reportedly shutting down its live shopping feature. It is a livestream-like feature that enables creators to showcase and sell products to the live audience. The social networking giant will shut down on October 1.
Here’s what the company said
According to a report by TechCrunch, Facebook will shut down its live shopping feature this year. The company says that it’s part of its initiative to shift focus from live shopping to Reels. “As consumers’ viewing behaviors are shifting to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s short-form video product,” mentions Facebook. The report adds that the feature will go away from Facebook but it will continue to be available on Instagram.

Facebook introduced the live shopping feature in 2018. The feature enabled influencers to host their live shopping sessions, where they can sell their products. The company then expanded the feature to other regions in 2020.
“If you want to reach and engage people through video, try experimenting with Reels and Reels ads on Facebook and Instagram. You can also tag products in Reels on Instagram to enable deeper discovery and consideration”, added Facebook.

Last month, Facebook announced the shut down of its social app for couples — Tuned. As reported by TechCrunch, users of the app have started receiving notification about its shutdown. The app is also asking its users to download their data before September 19.
The company initially introduced the app to analyze the people’s reactions and also test the new features. The app was designed to keep couples in touch during the pandemic. The app offers some messaging features and quizzes designed to let them share their feelings. Tuned also enabled users to exchange notes, photos, videos, voice messages and more.
